Transparency International Georgia has published the results of its study on gifts declared by public officials.

According to the report released by the organization, between September 2025 and April 2026, 379 public officials declared receiving gifts worth a total of GEL 24 million.

The organization reported that public officials received GEL 11 million in cash gifts and GEL 12 million in real estate gifts. They also declared receiving cars, firearms, and jewelry as gifts. According to the report, 60.78% of the total value of gifts came from parents.

By institution, the Ministry of Internal Affairs had the highest total value of declared gifts, amounting to GEL 2.3 million.

From September 2025 through April 2026, more than 4,700 public officials submitted asset declarations. Of these, 379 officials declared gifts, with a total value of GEL 24 million.

Public officials most frequently receive gifts in the form of real estate. During the period from September 2025 to April 2026, 100 individuals received real estate worth more than GEL 12 million in total. Among the real estate gifts were 48 residential houses and 69 land plots.

A total of 233 public officials received GEL 11 million in cash gifts, averaging GEL 47,000 per person. Of them, 28 officials received amounts exceeding GEL 100,000. Officials also declared 28 vehicles and six firearms as gifts.

When cash gifts are given, they are often recorded in US dollars or euros. Of the GEL 11 million in gifts received during the period, GEL 5.6 million was denominated in US dollars and GEL 1.7 million in euros.

Based on total value, public officials received 60.78% of gifts (GEL 14.9 million) from parents, GEL 4.3 million from siblings, GEL 2.4 million from other relatives, and GEL 1.3 million from children.

Gifts were received by officials from 158 different institutions. The highest total value of gifts was declared by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: 46 employees received gifts worth GEL 2.3 million in total. It was followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whose employees received gifts worth GEL 2 million in total, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, where nine employees received gifts worth GEL 1.6 million,” the report states.
