In order to establish long-term peace in the region, a discussion is needed between Tbilisi on the one hand and Tskhinvali and Sokhumi on the other, - this was stated in the statement of the press-speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova.
According to her, Russia is ready to facilitate this dialogue.
"We believe that the participants of the discussion should use their potential more, first of all, start developing an agreement on the non-use of force between Tbilisi on the one hand, and Sokhumi and Tskhinvali on the other," Zakharova noted.
According to her, the actions can become a reliable guarantee that the tragic events of August 2008 will not be repeated.
The statement also emphasizes that "starting the process of delimitation of the state borders of Georgia-South Ossetia and Georgia-Abkhazia, with further demarcation" should make a real contribution to the stabilization of the situation.
"The urgency of these tasks has increased recently, as Washington and its allies are intensifying their efforts to take advantage of intra-regional conflicts to achieve the obvious goal of escalating the situation on Russia's borders," Zakharova noted.
According to her, "Russia is ready to continue relations with those who cannot be indifferent to the fate of the South Caucasus, including promoting the development of a dialogue between Tbilisi, Sukhum and Tskhinvali in order to establish lasting peace and solve other accumulated problems in their common region", Zakharova noted.
