The door of the European Union will remain open for Georgia, but the course of the Georgian government takes Georgia away from the path of integration into the European Union, - said the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, at the press conference held after the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union.
He named the elections held in Georgia as one of the examples of the departure from the European path.
"To the Georgian people, I would like to repeat what I said last year during my visit to Georgia: the EU door will remain open for Georgia, but the course of the Georgian government, when it comes to respect for the rule of law and fundamental principles, including the way the elections were conducted, takes Georgia away from the path of EU integration," Josep Borrell noted.
