Hotelier Maya Murachashvili, in a conversation with the radio station Commersant, notes that in unison with the protests in Georgia, Russians have stopped booking the hotels in Gudauri. In her words, the demand from Russian tourists for vacations at winter resorts was high, but now it is not observed.
The number of bookings in the resort of Gudauri has dropped this season, while tourists from Eastern Europe, as well as Israel and the Gulf States are active. The guests from the Gulf States are now staying longer at the resort.
"They mostly book hotels from Eastern European countries. There are also orders from Austria and Western Europe as well as from Israel and Abu Dhabi. The Gulf countries are also active, they are making bookings for a longer period of time. Until now, they booked a hotel for 1-2 nights. Now, skating tourism has become popular in their countries and the days of stay have been extended," says Maya Murachashvili.
