The total credit portfolio of banks operating in Georgia decreased by 108 million GEL in February to 62.57 billion GEL- the February report published by the National Bank reads.
The decrease was mainly caused by a decline in the balance of foreign currency loans, in January the volume of the foreign currency loan portfolio amounted to 27.37 billion GEL, at the end of February it decreased by GEL 383 million to GEL 26.99 billion. Accordingly, the decrease was mainly caused by the decrease in the balance of foreign currency loans mostly affected by the exchange rate effect.
In terms of lending in the national currency, the portfolio soared by GEL 276 million totaling GEL 35.58 billion.
