According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, "attempts to shift the emphasis" are evident when the opposition talks about prices.

According to him, the opposition is still avoiding to state its position in relation to the draft law prepared by the parliamentary majority against LGBT propaganda.

As for the prices, according to the head of the government, the National Statistics Service publishes the consumer price index, according to which there has been a 66% increase since 2012.

"The attempt to shift the emphasis is obvious. Regarding prices, the National Statistical Service of Georgia publishes the consumer price index, according to which there has been a 66% increase since 2012. There were manipulations here too, some figures were published in a manipulative way, in fact there is a 66% increase in the consumer price index, which is one of the best indicators if we look at the data that is in different countries, including the EU member states, the United States of America, neighboring countries, etc. I remind you that during this period, we went through 2 crises, one was the currency and economic crisis that coincided with the first Ukrainian war, it was 2015-2016, then there was a high rate of inflation, devaluation among them, and the second was the crisis related to Covid, when a high rate of inflation was observed all over the world and not only in Georgia. Despite this, we managed and maintained a rate of 66%, which is one of the best in our region, neighborhood, continent and the world. Therefore, this data that is published is manipulative, and we can give a more detailed answer to these speculations that are circulating.

The opposition has so far refrained from stating its position regarding the draft law, which is being prepared by the parliamentary majority. This is their political decision. The society will observe these processes and will form its own position based on this," said Kobakhidze.
