In 2023, Georgia’s potato imports almost doubled.
According to Sakstat, in 2023 Georgia imported potatoes worth $7,740,910 (23,210 tons), in 2022- 11,169 tons worth $4,110,720.
In 2022, Germany was the main importer from which 1,224 tons of potatoes worth $1,114,840 were imported. Russia was in the second place in terms of import value, but the first place in terms of quantity, from which 3,794 tons of potatoes in the amount of $1,000,270 were brought. Belarus was the third with $ 750,290 (2,728 tons).
In 2023, the top three importing countries remained unchanged, although Russia and Belarus improved their positions in terms of quantity and import value. In 2023, Georgia imported 8,435 tons of potatoes worth $2,271,680 from Russia, 8,050 tons worth $2,177,790 from Belarus, and 1 180 tons worth $1,185,330 from Germany.
