In  January-April, chocolate exports decreased by 38.5%.


More specifically, according to official data, in 4 months of 2025, Georgia received $2.9 million in revenue from chocolate exports and sold 496 tons of chocolate on international markets. In the same period of 2024, this figure was 807 tons of chocolate worth $4.3 million in revenue. Of this, 180 tons worth $1.2 million were re-exported from Georgia, the remaining 315 tons worth $1.7 million were locally produced chocolate.

The main export market for Georgia this year is Armenia to which the country sold 143 tons of chocolate and earned $961 thousand in revenue. This market accounts for 28.8% of total chocolate exports.

• Turkey - $673 thousand, 112 tons;

• Iraq - $280 thousand, 70 tons;

• Uzbekistan - $353 thousand, 48 tons;

• Azerbaijan - $202 thousand, 43 tons.

As for imports, in the first 4 months of this year, Georgia bought 6,390 tons of chocolate, for which it paid $32.4 million against 6,946 tons of chocolate worth $27.2 million in the same period of last year.
This year, chocolate imports decreased by 8%, the value increased by 19% that means that the price of chocolate on the import markets has become significantly higher.

The main importing country this year is Russia, from which Georgia purchased 2,505 tons of chocolate worth $7.9 million. It accounts for 39.2% of total chocolate imports.

• Azerbaijan - $331 thousand, 105 tons.

The statistics of Russia are noteworthy, according to which the country is one of the largest chocolate suppliers.

5-year (2020-2024) statistics on chocolate imported from Russia:

• 2020: $21 million, 9,422 tons;

• 2021: $25.7 million, 10,935 tons;

• 2022: $32.4 million, 10,184 tons;

• 2023: $29.2 million, 9,315 tons;

• 2024: $29.8 million, 9,680 tons.

The statistics show that in 2024 imports from Russia soared by 3.9% compared to 2023, although compared to the same period prices rose by 1.9% in 2024.
