In the first 6 months of 2024, the import of printed books in Georgia increased. The official statistics show that the country imported printed books, pamphlets, leaflets and similar printed materials worth more than $3.8 million in the reporting period. Imports value increased by 15% annually, in 6 months of last year the country imported the products worth GEL 3.3 million.
The largest volume of books was brought from Turkey, import volumes exceeded $1.9 million (last year - $1.6 million). Followed by Poland from which imports has tripled compared to last year and stood at $ 380,000. On the third place is the United Kingdom, from which the books worth $343,900 were brought against $ 111,510 in 6 months of last year.
A significant growth is recorded in book imports from Russia, which took the 6th place in the ranking this year. In 6 months of 2024, printed books, pamphlets, leaflets and similar printed materials worth $173,000 were imported from Russia against $75,000 last year.
