Amid oil price hikes on the global market, fuel prices in Georgia are also rising. The cost of almost all types of gasoline and diesel fuel increased by an average of 10-10 tetri per liter within 2 weeks.

According to Zaal Yakobidze, CEO of Senta filling stations network,  fuel prices typically rise heading into the summer.

“If a month ago the gasoline purchase price stood at $600 per 1 ton, today it fluctuates within $700-750. Apart from that, the lari’s recent devaluation also caused an increase in fuel prices in Georgia," Zaal Yakobidze stresses.

Senta Petroleum founder and director expects fuel prices to keep growing in the next summer months due to the increased demand during this period.

Sakstat reports that in the first 4 months of the current year, fuel imports to Georgia increased. In January-April, imports of gasoline and diesel amounted to more than 347 thousand tons that is 4% more than in the same period of last year.
