Georgian and Armenian Football Federations submitted a joint application to host the 2029 U-20 World Cup.

Presidents of Georgian and Armenian Football Federations, Levan Kobiashvili and Armen Melikbekyan, signed a memorandum of cooperation in Yerevan and exchanged T-shirts symbolically.

Georgia hosted the U-19 European Championships in 2017 and, together with Romania, co-hosted the U-21 European Championships in 2023.

We are two friends, neighbours and football history-rich countries. We decided to apply to host the 2029 U-20 World Cup jointly. It is a significant project, and we will submit an official application shortly. We both have the experience of hosting such tournaments. This will assist our countries in developing football,” Levan Kobiashvili said.
