When the EU ambassador threatens the Georgian people with civil war and impoverishment, it is simply unthinkable, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists when discussing the statement made by the EU Ambassador.
As Kobakhidze noted, it is difficult for him to even evaluate this statement.
"When the EU Ambassador threatens the Georgian people with civil war and impoverishment, it is simply unthinkable. It is impossible to assess this. I would like to emphasize once again that the Ambassador is, unfortunately, in a tragic situation. When he has to make such threats against the Georgian people, this in itself speaks of his difficult situation.
He said that in the near future it will be decided how events in the country will develop, either in one direction or the other, and the second direction, in his opinion, is civil war and impoverishment of the population. When the EU Ambassador threatens people like this, it simply does not deserve to be assessed. This is truly tragic.
The EU Ambassador threatens the Georgian people. This is his direct threat and, of course, summoning the ambassador is appropriate for this," Kobakhidze said.
When asked whether a threat was also visible in the statement of the Iranian ambassador to Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze replied that "you cannot cover up this most serious statement with other statements, which is a direct threat against and towards the Georgian people - a threat of civil war, impoverishment."
“It is simply shameful when [the ambassador] says this. Not in my opinion, but this is the simplest logical explanation when you say that in the near future the fate of the country will be decided in one direction or another, which is civil war and impoverishment. First, ask yourself, how did the country get to this point? How is Herczynski leading the country to war? He tried once, he tried twice, he tried five times. We have gone through five attempts to organize a revolution in our country in four years. Mr. Ambassador came out before the parliamentary elections and called on the Georgian people to return the National Movement, he directly called on them to mobilize, to dismiss this government and return the National Movement to power. In other words, he was directly calling on the Georgian people to return to the bloody, precisely dark 9-year past with his call. This is the spirit of the ambassador, and it is tragic when the EU ambassador comes out with this and adds to it the fact that he directly threatens the Georgian people with civil war and impoverishment," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
