Georgia’s air cargo transportation market has welcomed a new operator, as Qatar Airways has completed its first scheduled cargo flight to Tbilisi.

In accordance with a permit issued by Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the airline will operate flights on the Doha–Yerevan–Tbilisi–Doha route once a week. Qatar Airways will use Boeing 777 freighter aircraft on this route, providing cargo transportation services between Georgia and the State of Qatar.

According to statistics, Georgia’s air cargo market has grown significantly in recent years. In 2025, the volume of cargo transported by air reached 38,578 tonnes, setting an all-time record in the history of Georgia’s airports.

Compared with 2024, cargo turnover in 2025 increased by 50%, while compared with 2023, it rose by 101%. This means that the market has effectively doubled in size in just two years.
