Georgia will not build two Arab cities, but two beautiful Georgian, European-style development areas near Tbilisi and Batumi. A total of 16,000 residential houses and apartments are planned to be built, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
According to the Prime Minister, the “anti-state campaign launched by Georgia’s ill-wishers against this unprecedented investment project is “built on lies.”
"Naturally, this scale of stimulation of the Georgian economy and state budget is a serious problem for our country's ill-wishers. The stronger and more independent the state is in economic terms, the more difficult it is to shake its independence. This is precisely what the anti-state campaign built on lies that Georgia's ill-wishers and their local agency have launched against this unprecedented and flawless investment project is related to. Each point of their campaign is false and completely built on lies. In particular, they claim that two Arab cities are being built and the "Arabization" of Georgia is beginning. I would not have given a serious response to this thesis if I had not seen the statements of several respected people who, unfortunately, perceived these messages as convincing. The concern about possible migration is completely understandable, and therefore, I consider it necessary to share full information about the myth of "Arabization" with the public. First of all, it should be said that not two Arab cities will be built in Georgia, but two beautiful Georgian, European-style development areas will be created near Tbilisi and Batumi. A total of 16,000 residential houses and apartments are planned to be built. Even if foreign citizens buy 60 percent of these, this means that a total of 9,600 apartments will be sold, while over the past 4 years, foreigners have purchased more than 60,000 apartments in Georgia, and this has not created any demographic problems for Georgia and will not create any. Even these simple statistics show how false the statements are that the Eagle Hills project will create demographic problems for Georgia,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
As the Prime Minister explained, foreign buyers will not be granted any special privileges in terms of obtaining a residence permit in Georgia.
The statement by the head of Eagle Hills that he expects to sell 60 percent of the apartments to international buyers is based on the fact that the company has a well-established sales network in different countries of the world. However, given the rapid growth of the economy in Georgia and the fact that Eagle Hills’ pricing policy will allow not only high-end but also middle-class Georgian buyers to purchase a house or apartment, according to our reasonable assumption, the number of Georgian buyers will far exceed 50 percent”, the Prime Minister said.
