In the I quarter of 2026 the number of Georgian resident travellers’ trips abroad equaled 640.9 thousand, which is 4.3 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year. Most of the trips, 43.4 percent, were made by travellers of age group 31-50. Value of pension assets amounts to GEL 9.1 billion.
The number of outbound visits by Georgian visitors from above-mentioned figure amounted to 496.3 thousand, 2.9 percent higher compared to the same period of 2025.
Outbound visitors made 328.8 thousand tourist-type visits, which is 1.7 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year. The chart below shows the distribution of visits made by outbound visitors by the type of visit.
The majority of outbound visits (46.7 percent) were made by the visitors of age group 31-50, and women accounted for 45.6 percent of the total number of visits.
In the I quarter of 2026 the purpose of the majority of outbound visits (35.3 percent) was visiting friends/relatives.
The majority of outbound visits were made in Turkey and Russian Federation, 172.4 thousand and 89.3 thousand, respectively. The chart below illustrates the distribution of outbound visits by the visited countries.
In the I quarter of 2026 the average number of nights spent during the visits equaled 6.8, which is 1.4 percent higher than the same figure of the I quarter of 2025 (6.7 nights). 99.1 percent of outbound visits was repeating visit.
The expenditures during the visits made in the I quarter of 2026 equaled 629.1 million GEL. This indicator is 30.7 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year. Average expenditure per visit increased by 26.9 percent compared to the I quarter of 2025 and amounted to 1 267.7 GEL.
