Given the statistics, we can say that in 2025 we have a 20% increase in the tourists flow due to the strengthening of the communication and marketing activities of the Akhaltsikhe castle, the implementation of the updated concept plan and, in general, the significantly increased activity of the country’s tourism segment, - the director of the Akhaltsikhe (Rabati) castle complex Zaza Tamarashvili states.
In his words, 30,148 visitors visited the tourist site in the first 5 months of 2025 against 25,210 visitors in the same period of 2024.
“The Akhaltsikhe Fortress Complex, located in the historical district of Rabati in Akhaltsikhe, was opened on August 16, 2012. It is an attractive place for both Georgian and foreign tourists. Since its opening, as of June 1, 2025, the complex has been visited by 1,473,104 visitors.
In particular, in the last 5 months, the tourist site was visited by 30,148 visitors, of which 15,206 were Georgians, 14,942 foreigners. In the first 5 months of 2024, the total number of tourists reached 25,210 visitors. Of these, 11,424 were Georgian citizens, 13,786 foreign visitors," Zaza Tamarashvili notes.
Note: The Akhaltsikhe Castle Complex, located in the historical district of Rabati in Akhaltsikhe, was opened on August 16, 2012. It is an attractive location for both Georgian and foreign tourists. The complex has historical, diverse and impressive locations, the Samtskhe-Javakheti History Museum is located in the historical wing of the complex, which exhibits a variety of archaeological artifacts found both in the region and other parts of the country.
The complex has 16 highly qualified tour guides who conduct excursions in 6 languages, including Georgian, English, Russian, German, Turkish and French. It’s worth mentioning that the complex has a 3-language audio guide service. The complex is divided into two wings. The lower, free wing houses commercial spaces where most events are held, while entry is paid in the upper historical wing, the ticket price for a foreign citizen is as follows: adult - 18 GEL, student - 15 GEL, pupil- 12 GEL, for a Georgian citizen: adult - 7 GEL, student - 3 GEL, pensioner - 3 GEL, pupil- 2 GEL.
