“Georgia, as a tourist destination, is not very interesting for the Chinese travellers. Our country is not even among the top 20-30 most popular destinations for Chinese tourists,” Alexander Giorgidze, head of the initiative group of guides “Case”, states.

Direct flights are not performed from major cities of China. Chinese high-paying tourists are not our segment. We also face a problem with guides - we have the potential to get 100-200 thousand tourists from China, but as soon as the number increases, we will need guides speaking Chinese whom our country lacks. For this purpose, Chinese guides will come. Georgia has no more than a dozen professional guides who can work with the Chinese. If several groups come from China, we will have no guides,” Alexander Giorgidze notes.

A visa-free regime between Georgia and China was adopted by Beijing just a few days ago.

Georgian citizens will be able to stay in China for 30 days without a visa.
