In one of the chain stores, the price of one type of bread has soards by 10 tetri. In particular, the 530-gram product now costs 1.30 GEL instead of 1.20 GEL, the 410-gram bread soared from 1 GEL to 1.10 GEL.
According to the chairman of the Georgian Bread Manufacturers Union Malkhaz Dolidze, it was the cheapest bread of one of the bakeries, which is presented in only one network store. However, non-chain stores arbitrarily increased the price of bread.
«Bread did not increase in price. A bakery changed the price for one assortment. Price hikes are when the price of bread increases massively. Please explain this accurately. The change in price for one assortment is due to the fact that flour has increased greatly. The sack of flour costs 60 GEL, last year it cost 50.
«It is necessary to ask in chain stores, otherwise when non-branded shops hear that the price of one variety of bread has increased, they take and arbitrarily increase the price », Dolidze notes.
When asked whether bread price hikes were caused by the rise in the flour cost, and whether prices of other bread products will be increased, Malkhaz Dolidze answered in the negative.
