From December 17-18 until Christmas, 80% of Georgia's ski resorts are booked. Maya Murachashvili, founder of the Hotel Strategic Management Group, told radio Commersant that the season will open on December 21st. Fortunately, expectations of a lack of snow have not justified, and hotels are fully ready for the season.

"From December 17-18 until Christmas, 80% of hotels are already booked, including quite active bookings in Gudauri. After Christmas, the number of vacationers decreases that is typical for a winter resort. This is not a holiday dependent on mass tourism; it's more of an individual holiday. Last year, for example, occupancy was 90%," points out Maya Murachashvili.

As for prices, Maya Murachashvili says that hotel prices have soared by at least 15%, although food prices have gone up more significantly.

Maya Murachashvili notes that prices in Gudauri's hotel sector might further hike, amid high prices at ski resorts in Bulgaria and Turkey.

"Gudauri truly has a competitive advantage in terms of foreign tourists. Our compatriots sometimes get upset, and I understand this concern, that Gudauri has become expensive for the Georgians. However, the situation can be solved– apartments that will satisfy people with any budget. Furthermore, as far as I know, price in Bakuriani are not risen that much here," notes Maya Murachashvili.
