In winter, forested mountains of Ajara create a fantastic setting in the winter, however, due to the problems, many people refrain from visiting this region- says Rima Bolkvadze, owner and hostess of the family hotel "Rima's House" told "Commersant". Her hotel is located in the village of Vashlovani, Khulo municipality, Zemo Adjara, 1200 meters above sea level.
"The family hotel has been operating for 2 years, we introduce some changes all the time. We have improved and added many services, we are trying to develop as per requirements. We’ve added high speed internet, landscaped balcony and sitting room with fireplace. In December , the furniture in the rooms will be replaced with new ones to create a more comfortable atmosphere.
Rima Bolkvadze notes that the winter season is a difficult season for the highlands of Adjara due to bad roads that are still the main challenge.
"Due to heavy snowfall, roads are often closed, electricity is cut off. Unfortunately, mountainous Adjara is not supplied with natural gas, we use air conditioners and wood stoves for heating. On some sections of Batumi-Akhaltsikhe road works are underway that hampers movement, for this reason, many people refrain from visiting Khulo," the owner of the family hotel says.
Rima Bolkvadze notes that mainly foreigners make reservations in the hotel but she hopes that Georgians will also be interested in Upper Ajara during the winter season.
Rima Bolkvadze talks about the decline in the number of European and Israeli tourists and notes that most bookings in summer were from Russia, Belarus and Poland.

I hope that the end of the year will meet our expectations and many tourists will arrive in Georgia. There is unique nature, air, water - everything that will bring happiness to a person is here. Adjara’s diversity is still undiscovered. An unsupported cable car that runs between the two mountains is the second longest cable car in Europe. Many tourists visit Khulo just to see this cable car.”
Family hotel "Rima's House" is 4 -room (3 with bathrooms). The prices are different and depend on the conditions range within GEL 100-150 per night. The family hotel also serves meals to guests.
"I invested more than GEL 150 thousand, a small part was grant programs, I run this business mainly through loans," says Rima Bolkvadze.
