For a year, local winemakers united in the Ukrvinprom corporation have been seeking sanctions from Ukraine against several Georgian and Armenian wine producers and brands sold in Russia.

At the end of May, "Ukrvinprom" sent to the Security Council a list of producers who were proposed to be banned for ten years from commercial operations, withdrawal of capital outside the borders of Ukraine, use of trademarks, domain rights, cancellation of licenses, etc. The list includes 17 enterprises, including the producers of the famous "ARARAT" and "Sarajishvili" cognac brands and the Georgian "Askaneli Brothers" wines. Ararat brandy factory, MAP, Yerevan brandy factory, Proshyan brandy factory, Avshar wine factory, Astafyan holding, and Vedi Alko are on the list.

Market participants are calling for a more balanced approach to applying sanctions, as the products are in demand in Ukraine, and a large-scale ban will result in counterfeit products appearing on the market.
