“When Giorgi Gakharia was a business ombudsman he enjoyed a very high reputation  among businessmen. He helped a lot because  it was a transition period after the change of power and many businessmen  faced problems. It was very important, he helped to overcome the state’s negative influence on business, ” Kakha Okriashvili, a founder of the pharmaceutical company PSP, says.

He expects  Gakharia will be a good prime minister as well.

“We should  get used to the fact that prime ministers often change, and not once in 10 years and this is normal for the parliamentary republic. We hope Gakharia will solve the problem of non-core assets of banks and will complete separation of the financial and other sectors of the economy, ”the businessman explains.

Ramaz Vashakidze, the head of the Chirina poultry company, also has positive expectations.

“As a business ombudsman, Gakharia was focused on business interests and helped the business community  as much as he could. We also had  very close contacts with him when he was Minister of Economy. As for expectations, we expect  the abolition of VAT on poultry products that will allow us not to raise prices,” he says.
