Volume of non-bank deposits in the banking sector totaled GEL 34.88 billion as of February 1

The volume of non-bank deposits in the banking sector amounted to GEL 34.88 billion as of February 1, 2021 that is GEL 247.84 million or 0.72% more than in January 1 (without exchange rate effect, volume of deposits increased by 34%)- the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports.

 In January, the volume of term deposits increased by GEL 625.96 million (3.88%, exchange rate effect excluded, volume of term deposits increased by 3.47 percent). Demand deposits decreased by GEL 378.12 million or 2.04 percent (without exchange rate effect, volume of demand deposits decreased by 2.39 percent).

The larization ratio of total non-bank deposits constituted 38.55 percent by February  1, 2021, and decreased by 0.06 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded by 0.08 percentage point) as of January 1.


The annual average weighted interest rate on term deposits constituted 6.52%. In particular, the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 8.23 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits 1.90 percent.

The share of the US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals 84.15 percent and the share of the Euro equals 14.47%.
