According to the latest NDI survey, the majority of respondents (59%) name unemployment as the biggest problem facing the Georgian economy.

The study, which covers the period December 17-24, 2020, shows that among other problems are price hikes (45%); poverty (28%); the lari’s depreciation (27%); pandemic restrictions (14%); low wages (11%) and border closures (6%).

Only a quarter of the population surveyed said they are doing better economically than in 2016, with 32 percent saying it is worse, while 45 percent think their situation has remained unchanged.

The NDI survey was conducted on December 17-24, 2020, based on a representative sample of 2,053 telephone interviews conducted with the adult population across Georgia (excluding the occupied territories).
