The Employment Agency to be launched on January 1, 2020

According to the Deputy Minister of  Labor, Health  and Social Affairs Tamara Barkalaia, an employment agency will start working on January 1, 2020 which will be aimed at  retraining staff in accordance with the needs of the labor market.

“The role of the state in overcoming unemployment is very large. Work on shaping state policy in this direction  began in 2015, and primary intermediary services were created. Our goal at this stage is to retrain personnel, in particular, short-term courses, professional development, individual consultations for those wishing to find work. The online employment platform is also planned to be launched, ”she says.

In Barkalaia’s words, following  the current challenges, the decision to establish the Agency  was made in November which  main objective is to establish communications between employers and job seekers.

If necessary, the Agency will provide assistance at the expense of the state to obtain   profession for those who want to get a job but do not have required  qualifications.

“The state intervenes in this process and is trying to train  personnel meeting the  demand in the labor market,” Tamara Barkalaia explains.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Education has been actively training  persons wishing to find work, namely, it created special professional colleges which are in great demand.

The  Deputy Minister adds that  the Agency will start working on January 1, 2020, it will have 15 branches-  5 in Tbilisi and 10 in the regions.
