Plastic Bags to be Banned in Georgia from October 1

Starting October 1, 2018 the production, sale and import of plastic bags will be gradually banned in Georgia -  Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze said at Wednesday briefing. According to him, the government of Georgia has adopted relevant regulations as a part of the green economy and environmental policy. 


"In the last few years the whole world has been waging war on single-use  disposable plastics for wrapping. Plastics, especially the widespread plastic bags which are most damaging to the environment..


The Government of Georgia, as part of its green economy and environmental policy, has adopted regulations that will come in force on October 1, 2018 to ensure gradual removal of disposable plastics," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.
