Passenger traffic at Georgian airports up 20%

Passenger traffic in Georgia's airports increased by 20%  in four months of 2019. According to the Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, in the reporting period  Georgian airports carried 1,450,847 passengers by regular and charter flights. 

The increase was observed in the country’s three airports in April. Tbilisi International Airport served 331,523 passengers in April, which is 12% more than in the same period of last year (298,163 passengers in 2018). During the 4-month period, passenger flow has made up 11% within 4 months (2018 to 1,020,104 passengers).

In April 2019, passenger flow increased by 67% at Kutaisi International Airport and reached 67,530 passengers (2018 to 40,413 passengers). As of the 4 months’ data, Kutaisi International Airport served 224,314 passengers, which is 89% more compared to the same period of the previous year (2018 - 118,433 passengers).

The growth trend continues at Batumi International Airport. In April 2019, 36,532 passengers traveled from Batumi Aleksandre Kartveli International Airport that  is 16% more compared to the same period of the last year (31,501 passengers in 2018). In comparison with the same period of the last year, Batumi passenger traffic increased by 30% and reached 88,448 passengers within 4 months (2018 - 68,261 passengers).


As for the local airports, Mestia Airport served 1,626 passengers within 4 months. Which is 16% more compared to the same period of the last year (2018 - 1,406 passengers).

Ambrolauri Airport handled 261 passengers in four months of 2019  that is  20% more compared to the same period  of last year (218 passengers in 2018). 

By the end of 4 months, 1,887 passengers have traveled from local airports, which is 16% higher than in the same period of the previous year (2018 - 1,624 passengers).
