to the National Democratic Institute (NDI) survey, the number of respondents
supporting Georgia's EU membership has declined by 6% since December 2018.
When asked- Do you support Georgia’s EU membership? - 77% of respondents, interviewed in April 2019, said that they "approve", while 83 % supported the country’s EU membership in December of 2018.
According to the same survey, 13 % of respondents disapprove the government’s goal to join the EU, while just 9 % of the NDI respondents said in December 2018 that they disapproved the EU membership.
The organization said that 77 percent of Tbilisi population, 78% of population of other big cities, 80% - of small towns and 80% - of small towns, 82 % of population of villages support the country’s EU membership, while 68 % of population living in the areas, which are mostly populated with ethnic Armenians, and 54 % of population living in the areas, which are mostly populated with ethnic Azerbaijanians, support Georgia’s EU membership.
The survey results reflect data collected from March 28 to April 15. The average margin of error is +/- 2,3 %.
