Levan Akhvlediani, General
Director of the Anaklia Development Consortium, says that negotiations are
currently underway with 4 major international financial institutions over the
allocation of loans to build the Anaklia deep-water port.
“They are mobilized to be poured into the project, and in the near future a meeting will be held with the Georgian government officials. The start of the port construction may be delayed for 3 months and the first vessel will enter the port a little later. The first phase of construction was planned to be completed at the end of 2020 while the port to start operating in the first months of 2021. Most likely, these deadlines will be changed, but in any case, if the negotiations are completed successfully and the decision to invest is adopted, the first vessel will enter the port in early 2021, ”he explains.
“Attracting investors and building the port is an obligation of the consortium and all questions about the terms of the construction should be addressed to it. We were forced to help the consortium and join the negotiations to attract investors, ”she notes.
