“Negative trends in the global economy are reflected in the situation in the region”- Deputy Finance Minister

In 2020 Georgia’s  economy will grow by 5% that is  rather ambitious given  the current  situation in the region. Negative trends in the global economy are reflected in the situation in the region, ” Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze says.

 According to Kakauridze, Georgia’s budget for 2020 will amount to GEL 14.2 billion .

“In 2020, pensions, increase infrastructure costs, increase a number of social obligations are to be  increased not on the scale that we would like, but within a framework we can afford. In 2020, expenses will increase by GEL 300 million compared to 2019 that is a very serious figure, ”he explains.


In Kakauridze’s words, capital expenditures will amount to GEL 3,7 billion, of which 1, 2 billion will be spent on regional projects, 695 million will be spent on roads. GEL 500 million will be spent on the highway which will cross the pass between Western and Eastern Georgia, ” the Deputy Minister says.
