Sofo Kiladze, the Chair
of the Human
Rights and Civil
Integration Committee, proposes a new initiative. According to her, drug prices
are too high in Georgia and need to be regulated by the state.
“I have not seen a country where
doctors prescribe so many medicines to patients as in Georgia. Prices for
medicines are very high and have a
punitive effect on every resident. The government should regulate prices but unfortunately,
nothing has been done in this regard so far, ”she notes.
PSP founder and the MP from
the ruling party Kakha Okriashvili comments
on the deputy’s statement and says that
only those who have the competence
should propose the initiatives in healthcare.
“What Sofo Kiladze knows
about healthcare to propose such
initiatives, only those who are
competent in these matters can propose them, ” the businessman believes.
In Kakha Okriashvili’s words, he has a great
respect for her and appreciates her as a good lawyer, but the lawyer should
deal with jurisprudence and not healthcare.
very expensive for people because of low incomes and not because of high prices of drugs. Medicines are 3 times
more expensive in Europe but they are available due to high income of the
population,” Kakha Okriashvili points out.
