The measures for bringing used e-cars to Georgia will be tightened. Alexander Vekua, Sales Director at Caucasia Auto Import, only those second-hand electric cars which passed inspection and has a certificate says will be imported to the country.
The reason for this is global- there have been many cases when a used electric car caught fire on a ship and endangered both other cargoes and the lives of crew members. For this reason major shipping companies, including Maersk and MSC, have urged importers to follow safety measures.
We
do not risk and do not endanger the lives of the crew, other cargoes,
etc. A damaged electric car can be imported, but it must be
checked to get certificates
as well as a license. All this is quite a
complicated process, both logistically and in
terms of organization
and requires
substantial funds, Alexander Vekua notes.
Note:
a total of 2 400 electric vehicles are registered in Georgia.
