Liberty Bank’s Lending Increased by 35%

In the first quarter of 2021, the number of total loans of commercial banks increased compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the National Bank, the average lending rate of commercial banks slowed to 7.5%, still some banks saw  a significant increase. For example, Liberty Bank leads with the annual growth rate of lending (35.2%), followed by ProCredit Bank with 22.4% growth.

The ranking of top banks by the growth of total loans is as follows:

Liberty Bank - in the first quarter of 2021 the total loans made GEL 1,775,423,599 against GEL 1,313,483,917 in the same period of the previous year, a 35.2% growth;

ProCredit Bank - in the first quarter of 2021 the total loans amounted to GEL 1,425,574,085 against  GEL 1,164,470,648 in the same period of the previous year, a 22.4% growth;


VTB Bank Georgia - in the first quarter of 2021 total loans amounted to GEL 1,457,070,632, against GEL 1,246,575,669 in the same period of the previous year, a 16.9% growth;

Bank of Georgia - in the first quarter of 2021 total loans amounted to GEL 13,719,449,632 against  GEL 12,468,719,523 in the same period of the previous year, a 10% growth;

TBC Bank - in the first quarter of 2021 total loans made GEL 15,024,294,133 against  GEL 13,811,272,219 in the same period of the previous year,  8.8% growth;

Basisbank - Total loans in the first quarter of 2021 amounted to  GEL 1,095,158,455 against  GEL 1,106,661,773 in the same period of the previous year, a 1% decline.
