"While implementing major infrastructure projects
most violations are revealed in the road construction," as per the Deputy
Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia Ilya Begiashvili.
According to Begiashvili, 60% of the ministry’s budget funds is spent on the construction of roads, 25-30% - on the water supply, 10-15% - on schools and kindergartens.
"We’ve recently intensified monitoring and set up special groups, which include representatives of various departments. Dozens of projects have already been checked. Step by step inspections will cover all regions of Georgia," the Deputy Minister notes.
adds that large-scale violations are not generally revealed because if the company cannot fulfill its obligations, it receives a warning, then it is fined, and eventually loses the contract.
