Georgia Mountain Resorts Business Association talks about the need to re-open the mountain resorts from February 1 noting that otherwise, the consequences will be very severe.
According to the head of the Association Maya Bichikashvili, resorts and the private sector are fully prepared to comply with any regulations to resume their work.
It is unknown whether the ski resorts will re-open from February 1 or not. If not, it will be a very heavy blow for the seasonal industry. Ski resorts are now on the verge of bankruptcy. But there is no reason for this, people have already learned to live with coronavirus observing the restrictions. If we do not start working from February 1, the hotel business in mountain resorts will be destroyed, the head of the Association notes.
Bichikashvili adds that the sector needs tax and bank benefits to allow resorts to operate after the pandemic is over, the head of the Mountain Tourism Association says.
