Georgia’s  subsistence minimum increased in April 2020, the National Statistics Office reports.

The living minimum wage for working-age men increased by GEL 3.2 to GEL 202,8 in April.

The subsistence minimum for average household   increased by GEL 2.8 compared to the previous year  and stood at  GEL 179,6.

Compared to the previous month, the minimum amount required for subsistence has increased by GEL 1.8 for able-bodied men and GEL 1.5 for the average consumer.

The National Statistics Office calculates the value of the subsistence minimum on the basis of  the minimum cost of items in the food basket .

The minimum food basket contains 40 different products such as bread, cereals, meat, dairy products, vegetables, and confectionery.
