Georgia’s  subsistence minimum increased in December 2020, the National Statistics Office reports.

The living minimum wage for working-age men made  GEL 189.5 in October but increased by GEL 3 to GEL 192.5 in December.

The subsistence minimum for average household increased by GEL 2.6 compared to November and stood at  GEL 170.5.

The National Statistics Office calculates the value of the subsistence minimum on the basis of the minimum cost of items in the food basket.

The minimum food basket contains 40 different products such as bread, cereals, meat, dairy products, vegetables, and confectionery.
