Georgia’s subsistence minimum increased

Georgia’s  subsistence minimum increased in March 2020, the National Statistics Office reports.


The living minimum wage for working-age men made  GEL 197.2 in February  but increased by GEL 3.80 to GEL 201.0 in March.


The subsistence minimum for average household  increased by GEL 3.4 compared to February and stood at  GEL 178.1.


The National Statistics Office calculates the value of the subsistence minimum on the basis of  the minimum cost of items in the food basket .


The minimum food basket contains 40 different products such as bread, cereals, meat, dairy products, vegetables, and confectionery.
