Georgia’s electricity imports up 93%, consumption - 3.3%

According to a report published by the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO), in the first 3 months of 2021, 41% of electricity consumed in Georgia was imported.

In the first quarter of 2021, electricity imports to Georgia increased by 93% and amounted to 1.43 billion kWh. Georgia has imported  the most electricity (863 million kWh) from Russia this year followed by Azerbaijan - 463 million KWh and Turkey - 111 million kWh.

The largest direct customer is Georgian Manganese, which consumed 279 million kWh of electricity. The  second is BFDC (Bitfury), which consumed 86 million kWh. Energy consumption of Tbilisi or Telasi subscribers reached  722 million kWh.
