Georgia’s electricity imports down 98,4%

Georgia’s electricity imports decreased by 98,4% in May 2021 and compared with a similar period of the previous year by 36,8%.

In particular, in May 2021 Georgia imported 4.143 million kWh of electricity against 6.560 million kWh  last May.

In May Georgia purchased electricity only in Azerbaijan - 4.143 million kWh.

It’s worth mentioning that amid  the Enguri HPP shutdown, electricity production in April decreased by 118.322 million kWh compared to the same period of last year and in April 2021 amounted to 825.464 million kWh (April 2020 - 943,796 million kWh). In May 2021, it amounted to 403.560 million kWh that is 98.1% more than in May of the previous year, last May the Enguri HPP generated 203.625 million kWh of electricity.
