Georgia spent GEL 586.5 million in January-June for servicing its external debt

In the first half of 2022, external debt servicing cost the Georgian budget GEL 586.513 million, of which 476.2 million were spent to cover the principal amount, 110.2 million - interest.

As of June 30, 2022, Georgia's public debt makes up GEL 28.524 billion, of which 78% accounts for external debt, 22% -  internal.

Most  loans  are allocated  to finance the country's priority infrastructure projects. The external debt portfolio mainly consists of long-term loans with an average maturity of 20.5 years and an average interest rate of 1.2%.
