In 2021-2022 Turkish olive oil producers have exported their products to more than 120 countries around the world.
Turkish media reports that compared to the previous season, export volumes increased by 32% in quantitative terms, from 44,000 to 58,000 tons, in monetary terms by 50% - from $134.8 to $201.1 million.
The United States is the largest buyer of Turkish olive oil with $75 million followed by Spain ($24 million), Japan ($17 million), Saudi Arabia ($10 million) and the United Arab Emirates ($5 million).
Georgia is also among the importers of Turkish olive oil, but still this product is mainly imported from Italy, which accounts for 35% of the total consumption. The second is Spain with 25%.
Turkey accounts for 15% of the total imports.
It’s worth mentioning that Georgia started the olive oil production but its share in total consumption is small.
