Georgia exports its products mainly to Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia

 Georgian products are mainly exported to Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.

According to Sakstat, in January-October 2019, Georgia’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $ 10.3 billion which is 0.5% more than in the same period of 2018.

Exports amounted to $ 3.05 billion (+10.4%), imports 7.3 billion (-3.1%).

The negative trade balance amounted to $ 4, 2 billion that makes  41, 4% of the total turnover.

Net export without re-export increased by 1, 9% and totaled  $ 1, 8 billion.

Goods worth $ 685.2 million were exported to the European Union, which is 14.2% more than in the same period of 2018. The EU accounts for 22.6% of Georgia’s total exports.


Imports from the EU amounted to $ 1.8 billion (-0.9%), which is 25.8% of total imports. Trade turnover with the EU decreased by 3,8% and amounted to $ 2.5 billion which is 28% of the total foreign trade turnover.

Export to the CIS amounted to $ 1.6 billion, which is 22.5% more than in the same period of 208 and amounts to 26.3% of the total turnover. Imports from the CIS amounted to $ 1.9 billion (-12.5%) and makes  26.3% of total imports.

Trade with the CIS countries amounted to $ 3.5 billion, which is 0.6% more than in the same period of 2018.

In the reporting period, 10 largest importers accounted for 72, 7% of Georgia’s total exports. The top three includes  Russia (409.8 million), Azerbaijan (400.4 million) and Armenia (310.4 million).

10 countries also account for 65.6% of the total imports - the first top three are Turkey (1.3 billion), Russia (774.2 million) and China ($ 721 million).


Georgia’s largest trading partners are Turkey (1, 4 billion), Russia (1, 1 billion) and China (871, 8 million).
