According to the Batumi draft budget for 2020, which was adopted before the coronavirus outbreak, the gambling revenues should have amounted to GEL 32.1 million while in fact, only GEL 1.7 million were received as of October 1, 2020.

According to the Revenue Service, 40 licenses for organizing gambling have been issued in the seaside resort.

At the same time, despite strict quarantine and a ban on gambling of every kind , restrictions do not apply to lottery draws. The local media reports that only one company organizing lotteries paid GEL 250,000 in taxes to the budget in a quarter.

Whether the casinos will resume their work in Adjara depends on the epidemiological situation and the opening of borders. But  to continue working in 2021, they must pay all fees to the budget by the end of December that is not easy because  no one knows what epidemiological situation there will be in Georgia  by the time.
