Consumer electronics retailers should be careful when introducing an internal installment system

President of the Association of Banks of Georgia Alexander Dzneladze calls on networks of electronics stores  to be careful when introducing an internal installment system.

In Dzneladze’s words,  such initiatives are quite real, since the introduction of lending  regulations has  limited the purchase of household appliances  on credit and  sharply decreased the sales. In the current  situation the stores are looking for other opportunities and the internal installment is one of them.

“The internal installment poses the same risks as bank loans, with the difference that financial institutions are engaged in  issuing loans while  for electronics stores it is an innovation. It is unknown how they will succeed  with the administration and whether  they will be able to solve problems with bad loans. Given all this,  retail chains should be as careful as possible,” Alexander Dzneladze says.

Electronics stores  spoke  about the internal installment system back  in October 2018, when it was reported  that the central bank  planned to introduce new regulations.
