Giorgi Surguladze, Director of Caucasus Auto Import, says that in 2022 prices of second-hand vehicles have hiked by 20-30% compared to the same period of last year, but this is not the price hikes cap and the trend will continue.
Prices will stabilize as they cannot rise indefinitely but still we don’t expect a downtrend,” he notes.
Giorgi Surguladze believes the surge in prices is caused by high demand for used cars from the United States.
“As for imports, more budget cars are the most in–demand but as for re-exports, both cheap and expensive cars are popular,” he points out.
The company’s re-export share increased to 60% in its total turnover. Caucasus Auto Import imports cars to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Russia.
Ukraine accounts for about 20% of the total re-exports, but this market is closed due to the war, it is replaced by the countries of Central Asia and now Ukraine accounts for only 3-4% of re-exports.
