A volume of remittances exceeded FDI in 2018

In 2018, a volume of remittances from abroad to Georgia exceeded foreign direct investment (FDI, the report of the State Commission on  Migration Issues says. 

In 2015-2018, money transfers were much more stable than investments, but only in 2018 a volume of money transfers exceeded FDI.

In the last 4 years remittances from abroad grew by 32%. Russia leads in terms of money transfers, however,  this figure is declining every year surrendering the leading position  to EU countries.
