According to the
Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the peach and apple harvest has entered
an active phase. As of July 14, 6,179 tons of peaches and apples were exported
from Georgia, which is 640 tons more than in the same period of last year. In
2019, in the same period the export of
peaches and apricots amounted to 5,539 tons.
The main export countries of Georgian peach and nectarine are the Russian Federation (61% - 3,796 tons), the Republic of Armenia (30% - 1,857 tons) and the Republic of Azerbaijan (7% - 417 tons). Georgia exports its products to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Moldova and Singapore (2% - 109 tons).
Refrigeration and storage facilities are working at full capacity to accommodate and sell the crop smoothly.
In order to facilitate the export of peaches, the documentation is prepared and issued by the principle of one window. Representatives of phytosanitary and customs services are involved in the process, "the statement reads.
