"I believe that today's meeting and negotiations will be very important for the development and deepening of friendly relations between the two countries, for the development and deepening of strategic partnership," Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said after a meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
According to Bayramov, the parties discussed friendly, good-neighborly relations between the two countries, as well as relations based on strategic partnership.
He thanked his Georgian counterpart for his hospitality and invited her to Azerbaijan.
“During the meeting, we had the opportunity to discuss the friendly, good-neighborly relations between the two countries, as well as relations based on strategic partnership, and various aspects of our relations. Azerbaijan and Georgia have always supported each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty both in the bilateral format and in the international format and continue to do so. I am glad that there is a very sincere and intensive relationship between our leaders. We are glad that last year the parliamentary elections in Georgia were very successful, after which the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia was carried out precisely in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Then, in April of this year, the first visit of the President of Georgia was carried out to the Republic of Azerbaijan. This once again confirms the friendly relations and mutual respect between our countries,” Bayramov said.
In addition, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, the parties discussed various areas, including economic issues, at the meeting.
“In general, the Republic of Azerbaijan is very active in the Georgian economy. Azerbaijan is a major investor in Georgia, and over the years, Azerbaijan has invested $3.6 billion in the Georgian economy. The huge projects implemented with the participation of our countries will make a great contribution to the prosperity of our countries. We talked about the existing prospects for cooperation, as well as the geographical advantages of our countries. We believe that we also have great potential in the field of tourism,” the Minister said.
In addition, Jeyhun Bayramov noted that global challenges were also discussed at the meeting, and he provided Maka Botchorishvili with information about the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict.
"I provided the Minister with information on the lands liberated from occupation, reconstruction work, and the refugee return process," he noted.
