Georgia's Foreign Debt Increased by $ 662 Mln

Georgia ended the year 2017 with $  5.177 billion foreign debt. According to the Ministry of Finance, in December the volume of debt increased by $ 114.1 million in one year grew  by $ 662 million. As of December 2016, the external debt was $ 4,515 billion.

the Ministry reports that the external debt of the government makes $  5,091 billion, where multilateral lenders debt is $ 3,765 billion. The debt of bilateral lenders amounted to $  824.8 million.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the debt of the National Bank is $ 85.4 million, securities - $ 500 million and debts on  guaranteed credits - $ 2,079 million.


In December 2017, $ 35.7 million were spent to cover the principal debt, while the interest expense was more than 8.5 million.
