5 Million Foreign Nationals Visited Georgia in 8 Months of 2017

In  8 months of 2017, 5 million foreign nationals visited Georgia, which is 18, 9% more than in the same period in 2016.

 

The largest number of visitors was registered in August, namely 1 million people. According to the National Bank of Georgia, in August tourists spent $ 391 million in the country, which is 31% more than in August 2016.

 

In general, in January-June tourists spent $ 1,8 billion in Georgia.

 

The largest number of visitors came from Azerbaijan (1.14 million. + 10%), followed by Armenia - 1,1 million (+ 16%), Russia - 995,000 (+ 34%), Turkey - 813,000 (- 6%), Iran - 220,000 (+ 141%), Ukraine 135,000 (+ 15%), Israel - 84,000 (+ 39%), Saudi Arabia - 46,000 (+ 196%), Kazakhstan - 42,000 (+ 16. 7%), Poland - 37 000 (+ 20 /%).

 

Of  5 million visitors, 2.4 million were tourists.

 

 In the period 2007-2013, the growth in the number of foreign visitors averaged 30% a year, the highest rate was recorded in 2012 - 56%. In 2014, due to the introduction of visa regulations, the growth rate dropped sharply to 2.3%, after their abolition in 2015 it grew to 7%.

 

In 2016, the growth totaled 7. 6%.
